Hug Your Mothers

It’s not Mother’s Day and it may not be her birthday, but after seeing this video all of our mothers deserve a hug. This woman is a true hero and has inspired me to start writing once a week on all the other true heroes that we see everyday. On Friday, March 2, 2012 a woman in Henryville, Indiana was going about her normal daily routine when her husband sent her a text message saying that a tornado was heading straight for their home. Stephanie Decker grabbed both of her children, wrapped them in a blanket and ran to the basement. She wrapped her arms around them and shielded them from falling debris as the tornado ripped through their home. When it was over she was pinned underneath two steel beams and asked her son to see if the storm was over. A second tornado then hit their home and she continued to hold her children under herself to shield them. This brave woman lost both of her legs and broke seven ribs saving her kids, who escaped without a scratch on them. So go hug your mother and tell her you love her, because there won’t be a day that these two kids don’t.

About jpr1987

I was born in 1987 in Orlando, Florida. My parents divorced when I was still a child and for some strange reason it inspired me. I wanted to know why. Ever since then that has been the only question on my mind and I apply it to just about everything I can hear or see. Why? View all posts by jpr1987
